As part of our 25-year anniversary we decided that we would choose two specific charities to support, one being a local Croydon charity and the other a nationwide charity. We asked all our team members to nominate the charities they would like to support and a brief reason why.

We were quite taken back by the response with everyone coming back with carefully thought out nominations.

We have chosen CALM as our local charity. Working in the construction industry, we sadly lose more than one construction worker a day to suicide and we therefore feel this charity can really make a difference to the lives of many young men.

For our nationwide charity we have selected The MS Society. The MS society is a personal charity for us at IRS, with some of the team having family members affected. There are over 130,000 people in the UK living with MS, with three times as many women as men with a diagnosis.

About CALM

CALM stands for the Campaign Against Living Miserably and is dedicated to supporting men under the age of 45 who need help and support with their mental health and suicide prevention.

We’re pleased that the money we donate will go towards front line support. CALM spends 80% of its money on directly helping young men by answering their phone calls, working with communities across the country and raising awareness of suicide and the devastating impact it has. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives and 75% of these suicides are male.

About the MS Society

The MS society help people manage the condition and symptoms, as well as funding research. Unfortunately there is not currently a cure for MS, but we hope that progress can be made by this wonderful charity to help those who suffer from it.

We are thankful to be able to give back to the charity that has given us so much in our time of need.
