Love Hemp, a successful expanding Croydon company moved into new premises a couple of years ago and wanted to optimise the space available. We were delighted to be appointed to undertake the project over several stages to create space for:

• Manufacturing
• Packing
• Storage racking
• Offices and meeting space

Stage one - pilings

The first stage was to install a mezzanine floor and during the planning stage it became apparent that the existing flooring of the warehouse was a real mixture of building debris and the foundations of an old outbuilding meaning that potentially it was not stable enough for a mezzanine floor to be fitted without additional support.

We needed to core drill the floor area to establish the exact base make up as well as complete a survey to identify the services runs to allow the design, size and depth of the pilings to be confirmed.

Twenty-five reinforced concrete pilings needed to be drilled and installed all of them approximately 600mm wide by 6m deep.

Stage 2 – mezzanine installation

We were now ready to complete the mezzanine installation including two new stairs cases. The main staircase being the corporate entrance to the floor and the second being a utilitarian fire escape on the other side of the floor.

With these preliminary stages now completed all minds are on phase 2 of the project with the fit out of the ground floor including packing areas and storage facilities and the design and fit out of the corporate first floor including open plan desk area, large breakout areas, washroom facilities, meeting rooms and executive offices.
